I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for your support in 2020. In a year where Canadians reported they were giving 37% less to charities due to Covid-19 and the economic shutdown to flatten the curve, the Moorelands Kids family stood strong in support of the children we serve.
February is the month of love and family, and in your enclosed issue of myMoorelands, we are celebrating YOU and your loving support of our families and children.
The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown a spotlight on the many inequities that exist in our city.
Our kids are located in all the significant cities COVID hot spots, and they’re hearing everyone tell them it’s unsafe to be outside while at the same time knowing that their family members need to go to work or go out to get groceries. They, like all of us are scared and feel alone. They are not alone, because you make it possible for us to come into their homes and connect them with caring staff and their program friends.
At Moorelands Kids’ we help children prepare for a better future. We know that providing the opportunity for children to develop positive habits and qualities gives them the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty and experience success in relationships, education and employment.
This is going to be a challenging year for everyone. We anticipate that added safety protocols will impact the number of children we can serve online or at the camp. That will impact the cost of our programs per child. We need your commitment and we need your help. Together, we will OVERCOME THE CHALLENGES OF COVID, both for our children and in our community.
I hope you will join us for this year’s Stakeholder Impact Meeting on April 21st. I am looking forward to updating you on all that we achieved together in a very difficult year and sharing our roadmap for the year ahead. So please do save the date to join us for this virtual meeting.
Moorelands Kids’ online programs are a lifeline for our families during a stressful time. Please consider making a donation on the enclosed donor card and help kids continue to develop the skills and strategies they need to overcome this challenging time.
Thank you for being a part of the Moorelands Kids’ family and for empowering kids to succeed and thrive,
Lynda Tilley
